Camping Trip – 31.07.11

Seeing as it was a sunny weekend, I set off for a camping trip in Kent on my trusty old MTB fixed gear. Who would have thought you would need this much stuff for two nights away?

It was about a 25 mile ride to the campsite, including journeys to the London train station and from the Kent train station to the campsite. A lot of this was down gravel paths through the forest and this eventually produced a rear tyre puncture.

Surprisingly, this wasn’t too difficult to ride even on the uneven surfaces. I guess this is because most of the weight is near the axle, preventing the steering effect that badly placed loads can produce. Next time I think I will be able to get the centre of gravity even lower.
